About Ipahco

Ipahco exists because most investing tools are built for the American or British market. The companies are different, the brokers are different, the fees are different, and so are the rules. Kenyans investing in Kenyan companies deserve material written about the Nairobi Securities Exchange itself.

What we do

This site is where you learn. The investing guides cover the whole practical journey — opening a CDS account, choosing a broker, what a trade really costs, how dividends and the tax on them work, and how the market itself operates. They are free, they name their sources, and they are written in plain English.

The app is where the tools are. app.ipahco.co.ke lets you screen every company listed on the NSE, follow dividends and corporate actions, compare licensed brokers, and track a portfolio. A free account covers most of it; Ipahco Pro adds an unlimited watchlist, full signal history, alerts and our ebook library.

What we do not do

  • We do not hold your money. Ipahco is not a broker and never takes custody of your cash or your shares. Those sit with a licensed stockbroker and at CDSC, in your name.
  • We do not give personal investment advice. Nothing on this site or in the app is a recommendation tailored to your circumstances. It is information, and the decision is yours.
  • We do not sell your attention to the highest bidder. The broker directory lists licensed firms; it is not a league table bought by whoever pays most.

How we write

Three rules we hold ourselves to:

  • Say where a number comes from. Fees, tax rates and deadlines are linked to the body that sets them — CDSC, the Capital Markets Authority, UFAA, the Central Bank of Kenya, the Kenya Revenue Authority.
  • Date everything. Each guide shows when it was last checked, so you know whether you are reading this year’s rules or an old copy.
  • Say what we do not know. Where a rate changes weekly or a broker’s terms differ, we say so rather than printing a number that will be wrong by the time you read it.

Who writes it

The guides are written by George, who runs Ipahco. Ipahco is not a licensed broker, fund manager or investment adviser, and does not hold itself out as one. For advice about your own money, speak to a licensed adviser.
